10/01/24 PowerSchool Update - State Reportable Information

TO: ALL DATA ENTRY PERSONNEL
RE: STATE REPORTABLE DATA LIVE ENTRY
As the state moves toward the Ed-Fi data standard and live data access to our student data within PowerSchool, the district will continue to move toward 100% data entry into PowerSchool. New processes must be developed and various best-practices must be established. If you are personnel responsible for maintaining or acquiring data, please consider how best to begin transitioning data entry practices from your current data entry system (Google, Excel, etc.) into PowerSchool. Contact Amanda Yoder with questions and considerations.

05/08/24 PowerSchool Update - New User Interface

TO: ALL ADMIN USERS (NOT TEACHERS)
RE: NEW POWERSCHOOL FEATURES AND ENHANCEMENTS
With the June PowerSchool release, the option to turn off the Enhanced User Interface will be removed and the Enhanced UI will be the only interface available for PowerSchool SIS. After watching the tutorial below, please ask Amanda Yoder to turn this feature on for you personally. Doing this before the switch allows us to better assess any customizations which need to be migrated into the new UI as PowerSchool has no assessment tool for customizations.

02/13/24 PowerSchool Update - Student Password Security Changes

ALL SCHOOLS: If student needs a password, direct them to "forgot password" link on student portal login screen (the student will retrieve the link from their student email). For new students OR if student/teacher needs a password for the student account, set/reset the student portal password manually to Falcon$LUNCH_ID where LUNCH_ID is replaced with student's 4-digit lunch ID. Print appropriate Student PowerSchool Portal MBA report. Students will be prompted to change the password upon initial login. Note: The MBA report is programmed to print the text "Falcon$" followed by an export of the Lunch ID field for that student - it does NOT print the actual password (so if a password doesn't work, there may be a typo in the password field).

10/17/23 PowerSchool Update - "No Home Internet Access" Alert

"No Home Internet Access" alert (red wifi icon) added to student profiles to indicate no home internet. Alert is manually added by secretaries based on students' Digital Equity enrollment form. Alerts are used for state reporting. DE forms should be evaluated at enrollment & alerts entered PRIOR to the first day of school. Note: Retain forms for current year, purge to make way for new school year's collection. Alerts can be set to expire on the last day of the school year to which they apply or manually removed at the time forms are purged.
